The Cheltenham Township is a municipality in Montgomery County in the State of Pennsylvania. Home to more than 37,000 residents, Cheltenham boasts of a diverse racial and ethnic base, with more than 80 different races and ethnicities represented in its population.

The town’s rich history began in 1682, when it was established as part of the Philadelphia  County. It was founded by members of the Quakers, a religious group, who came from Cheltenham England. When Montgomery County was established in 1784, Cheltenham became part of this new county.

Early in the 20th century, Cheltenham became known as one of the most affluent communities in Pennsylvania, hosting many prominent families and individuals. After the Great Depression, Cheltenham’s demographics changed. The municipality was reinvented as a center of diversity, beginning when the first Korean migrants settled in the area.
